Day 1 of Europe: Still in the US.
Yep. That's right. I'm still here. Guess Europe wasn't ready for me yesterday. After some very long hours in the airport yesterday, a almost take off, and a cancelled flight, I can say I will arrive sometime tomorrow (hopefully).Yesterday I as anxiously awaited to board my first flight I spent some time writing in my journal. I wrote about how I wanted to live every second of this trip, and not wish any of it away. I talked about living presently and being grateful for every single moment.Well, last night at 11:00 when I was severely sleep deprived, had a fever, and didn't know if, when, or how I was going to ever make it to Austria; I can tell you I was not exactly "grateful" for the moment. In fact, there was quite a few other choice words running through my head. I took a second though, to remind myself of what was going well. There were little things. For example, the sweet lady at the City Wok in Dulles who reopened and made us some food after they had already shut down shop for the night, the few hours I got to spend playing with two adorable kids on the plane, or the fact that Jake Porter is the best friend a girl could ask for. He picked me up at 1 am from Dulles, fed me, and gave me a place to sleep for the night, then drove me back to the airport today. At this point, I have no idea what day it is. I have seen all but 5 hours of the past 40 or so. I'm exhausted. But, I am reminded that even the best made plans don't always go the way you planned, but that's okay. Sometimes instead of landing in Vienna, you're catching up with an old friend. This is all a part of the trip. It's an unplanned adventure. And with that rambling mess of words (can I mention just one more time how sick and tired I am??) I am going to go board the new plane. Hopefully, next time I'm on here I will be in a new city and have my voice back! Here is a picture of my favorite breakfast and a sideways picture of my favorite friend (Wordpress is glitching out everytime I try and rotate the picture and I'm too lazy to fix it right now).
